I was thinking of an easy, quick recipe, that’s very kid friendly for my kids to try for Easter. One I had been wanting to try was Chow Mein Bird Nests.
It’s really fun, a little bit messy, and really tasty.
I like to make two different versions to appease everyone in the house: chocolate butterscotch and chocolate peanut butter.
What you’ll need:
- 10 oz milk chocolate chips
- 3 oz -butterscotch chips
- 1/3 cup creamy peanut butter
- 5 oz of chow mien noodles
- 1 large bag Cadbury chocolate eggs
What to do:
In one microwave safe bowl bowl combine 5 oz of the chocolate, and the butterscotch chips.
Place in the microwave and stop to stir every 20 seconds, until completed melted and blended.
Remove from the microwave and add 5 oz of chow mien noodles.
Mix the noodles with the chocolate until they are completely coated.
Then place small circular “nest-like” clumps of the mixture on parchment paper. They should be roughly the size of a small cookie.
Then top with 1-3 Cadbury eggs.
Repeat the same process but instead of butterscotch, add the peanut butter.
Place the nests into the fridge until the melted chocolate hardens.
Then, you are ready to enjoy!
